In the middle of her weekly Asda shop, Liz suddenly and inexplicably lies down in the aisle and refuses to get up. Who is this woman? What on earth is wrong with her?
Is she completely off her trolley?
Based on real events, THE CHECKOUT is a humorous and heartfelt journey through the mind of a mum whose only daughter has just left home. Step inside Liz’s world and find out if she will ever get up off the supermarket floor — or if she’s checked out for good.
Devised by Tom Lewis and Emma-Jane Hinds, and performed entirely by Emma-Jane Hinds, THE CHECKOUT a moving, vibrant, and funny one-woman play that will speak to anyone who’s ever had a mum.
“If Mrs Merton met Bryony Kimmings and lay down on the floor in a supermarket, you’d have something like THE CHECKOUT.”
